Wednesday Jan 30 Epcot

Our last day at Disney World took us to Epcot. We had to return to our hotel by 3:00 to meet the shuttle from Alamo to take us to the Disney Car Rental Center. We met up with the family at the Imagination Center after walking through the main entrance around the big metal sphere which is the Epcot signature feature. We did the ride featuring “Figment”...quite disappointing because it hasn't changed since we saw it 50 years ago! In fact, the entire area around the opening of Epcot is looking quite old and outdated.

Once you cross over into “The World” its a different story. Each nation's display is beautiful, some with shows, most with shops or restaurants. Its a long way around the lake! We started off with our favorite– O!Canada – a 360 degree film, narrated by Martin Short, showing great scenes from all over the country.

Lunch today at Italy – great slice of Pizza! Since we had to begin the trek “home”, we said our good-byes after lunch and continued on around the lake. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to stop and browse, maybe next time!

We got back to the hotel just in time, got the shuttle over to Alamo, picked up the car and off we went. We headed north up Rt 27, checked into a fleabag Quality Inn, and arrived at Bob and Mardi's about 5:30. We had a great visit and enjoyed a home cooked spaghetti dinner. They spend the winter in a 1200 unit mobile home community in Leesburg; seems to have all the amenities you could want!

By the way, the weather today was winter-like! Cloudy, high in the low 50s and breezy. Not nice! Its supposed to warm up tomorrow.

Tomorrow we stop for coffee with Vic and Debbie in Claremont, then mid-afternoon visit with Bob Zurhellen in Hobe Sound, then on down to Boca Raton for the night.
